Cost of Trust

At seventeen
Disloyalty pierced straight to the soul
Took six years
To stitch the wound shut

Now stone cold
Wrapped in invisible shields
Tear ducts ran dry
Long ago

Stole from me

Cash meant for medical expenses
Spent instead
On your luxury dream destination

Stranded
Penniless
Surrounded by hospital walls
No idea
What tomorrow looked like

It’s not weird…

Not angry at you

Brand new Wednesday
Sun is out
Nurses in blue, doctors in white

Paracetamol every morning
Still breathing
Still here

Barely question
What possessed you

Leave that exile
live free

No schemes
No conniving , no conspiracies
No revenge waits for you

Anesthetized to pain

You were my best friend

Humans bound to betrayal
Same way birds capable of flight

As long I’m breathing
There is hope
Solve another puzzle

Pass by
Say hello
Do not be distant
